LinkedIn Pixel Tracking for Your Event

LinkedIn pixel tracking can be a helpful tool for understanding the different stages of the ticket-buying process for your event. Once you know the various stages of the buying process, you can learn where you may be losing potential ticket sales and why those ticket buyers are not completing the purchase process.

Actions on your event page that you can track using the LinkedIn pixel include:

Implementing LinkedIn tracking is a relatively straightforward process. Follow the steps below to track your event!

Notes:

  • Ensure your payment or credit card information is updated on LinkedIn to run your campaign.

  • If you're using widgets (Settings > Widget Options), you will be unable to incorporate the LinkedIn Insight Tag within the widget or track the ticket purchase event for action tracking.

Utilizing LinkedIn Pixel Tracking

Create a Campaign on LinkedIn

  1. Log in to your LinkedIn account.

  2. Click the Advertise button.

  3. Enter the information needed to create your account, and click Agree & Create account.

  4. Select Website visits on Objective selection.

  5. On Ad Format, associate your company page by placing the name or URL. Click Associate Company Page.

  6. Scroll down and click Save and exit.

Note: To identify the purchase, you must add the LinkedIn site-wide Insight Tag to Google Tag Manager.

Create a Conversion Tracking for Add to Cart

  1. Click Account Assets, then select Conversion Tracking.

  2. Click Create Conversion, then select Online Conversion.

  3. In this step, you will set up tracking for Add to Cart.

    • Enter your tracking name (e.g., Checkout or Add to Cart)

    • Choose Add to Cart in Define the key conversion behavior you want to track

    • Choose 1 day on Views

    • Click Next step

  4. Select the campaign if it is available, then click Next step.

  5. Select Page load, then add 2 rules under Page load conversion:

    • (1) Match a URL that starts with the URL of your checkout page (click the buy tickets button from your event page, then copy the URL of that page, e.g. https://www.accelevents.com/e/u/checkout/linkedin-ariane/tickets/order)

    • (2) Match a URL that contains checkout/

  6. Select Or use the image pixel which is less accurate than the Insight Tag. Copy the LinkedIn Tracking Partner Id and LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id from the code. You will insert this later to your event.

    In this example, this is the code:

    The LinkedIn Tracking Partner Id is 4461897

    The LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id is 9073649

  7. Select Page Load again, then click Create.

  8. Go to your Accelevents Admin Console and click Settings > Integrations.

  9. Click on the Configure button next to the Linkedin Tracking Partner then paste your LinkedIn Tracking Partner Id and LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id

  10. That's it. You're done! Your conversion tracking should be working now.

    Note: You will need to add the LinkedIn site-wide Insight Tag to Google Tag Manager to identify the purchase.


Create a Conversion Tracking for Page View

  1. Click Account Assets, then select Conversion Tracking.

  2. Click Create Conversion, then select Online Conversion.

  3. In this step, you will set up tracking for Page View.

    • Enter your tracking name (e.g., Page View)

    • Choose Ad View in Define the key conversion behavior you want to track

    • Choose 1 day on Views

    • Click Next step

  4. Select the campaign if it is available, then click Next step.

  5. Select Page load, then add 1 rule under Page load conversion:

    • (Match a URL that starts with the URL of your event landing page (e.g. https://www.accelevents.com/e/linkedin-ariane)

  6. Select Or use the image pixel which is less accurate than the Insight Tag. Copy the LinkedIn Tracking Partner Id and LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id from the code. You will insert this later to your event.

    In this example, this is the code:

    The LinkedIn Tracking Partner Id is 4461897

    The LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id is 9073713

  7. Select Page Load again, then click Create.

  8. Go to your Accelevents Admin Console and click Settings > Integrations.

  9. Paste your LinkedIn Tracking Partner Id and LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id

    Note: If you previously added a LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id in this field while setting up another Conversion Tracking, you will need to remove it from this field and replace it with the new one. Your previous Conversion Tracking will still work as long as you followed step 7 (select Page Load). If the conversion tracking has a site-wide tag it will work even if the LinkedIn Tracking conversion Id is removed from your admin console.

  10. That's it. You're done! Your conversion tracking should be working now.

    Note: You will need to add the LinkedIn site-wide Insight Tag to Google Tag Manager to identify the page view.


Create a Conversion Tracking for Add Billing Info

  1. Click Account Assets, then select Conversion Tracking.

  2. Click Create Conversion, then select Online Conversion.

  3. In this step, you will set up tracking for Add Billing Info

    • Enter your tracking name (e.g., Add Billing Info)

    • Choose Ad View in Define the key conversion behavior you want to track

    • Choose 1 day on Views

    • Click Next step

  4. Select the campaign if it is available, then click Next step.

  5. Select Event-specific and copy the Conversion Id. Click Next. You will insert this later to your event.

    In this example, the LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id is 9073721

  6. Go to your Accelevents Admin Console and click Settings > Integrations.

  7. Paste your LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id

    Note: If you previously added a LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id in this field while setting up another Conversion Tracking, you will need to remove it from this field and replace it with the new one. Your previous Conversion Tracking will still work as long as the conversion tracking has a site-wide tag.

  8. That's it. You're done! Your conversion tracking should be working now.

    Note: You will need to add the LinkedIn site-wide Insight Tag to Google Tag Manager to identify the action.


Create a Conversion Tracking for Payment

  1. Click Account Assets, then select Conversion Tracking.

  2. Click Create Conversion, then select Online Conversion.

  3. In this step, you will set up tracking for Payment

    • Enter your tracking name (e.g., Payment)

    • Choose Purchase in Define the key conversion behavior you want to track

    • Choose 1 day on Views

    • Click Next step

  4. Select the campaign if it is available, then click Next step.

  5. Select Event-specific and copy the Conversion Id. Click Next. You will insert this later to your event.

    In this example, the LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id is 9159073

  6. Go to your Accelevents Admin Console and click Settings > Integrations.

  7. Paste your LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id

    Note: If you previously added a LinkedIn Tracking Conversion Id in this field while setting up another Conversion Tracking, you will need to remove it from this field and replace it with the new one. Your previous Conversion Tracking will still work as long as the conversion tracking has a site-wide tag.

  8. That's it. You're done! Your conversion tracking should be working now.

    Note: You will need to add the LinkedIn site-wide Insight Tag to Google Tag Manager to identify the action.
