A

Accelevents: A powerful but affordable all-in-one virtual event platform known for ease of use and live 24/7 support. The platform offers robust virtual event hosting features including ticket sales, live streaming, live chat & polling, virtual exhibitor booths, breakout sessions, A.I. powered networking, gamification, fundraising, and more. Whether hosting an event for 100 people or 100,000+ Accelevents will allow you to create a virtual experience that your attendees remember. They also provide a built-in production studio or you can bring your own!

Accelevents Studio: A built-in broadcast studio within the Accelevents platform allowing live-streaming of sessions without utilizing any external resources.

Access Code: A unique code created by an Event Admin that will unhide a hidden ticket, allowing ticket buyers access to purchase specific tickets associated with the unique code. (For example, VIP Tickets, early-bird tickets, free tickets not open to the public.)

Add-On Item: An item created by Event Admins that appear on the registration page, allowing ticket buyers to purchase on sale items in conjunction with their ticket during and check-out with one payment. Add-on items are not tickets that provide ticket buyers access into the virtual event or any related features.

Admin Console: A centralized webpage that is homebase for Event Admins. In the admin console, event admins are able to create & customize their site, virtual event hub, and edit additional settings of their event. See Console for more information

API: An application programming interface (API), is a computing interface that defines interactions between multiple software intermediaries. It defines the kinds of calls or requests that can be made, and how to make them. Accelevents keeps their API private.

Attendee Profile: The Attendee Profile is located at the top of the VEH. An attendee can opt to fill in basic information as well as a profile photo and whether they would like this information to be public. This profile will show in the People Tab (if enabled). Attendees can also set various settings for connecting with others in this profile.

AWS Chime: AWS stands for Amazon Web Service. AWS Chime is a real-time audio, video conference and collaboration service hosted by AWS.

Beamer: The application used to announce product updates and features to customers. This application is embedded in the admin console and available for all event admins to see at any time. See what’s new on Accelevents here.

Breakout Rooms: Breakout rooms is a feature that allows speakers/moderators to split attendees into small groups within one of our 7 session types, Workshop sessions. With the option to split attendees into smaller groups and the ability to assigned attendees to rooms, it allows them to focus on particular discussion topics. Attendees can return back to the main workshop session once breakout rooms are closed or they leave the room.

Break Session: 1 of 7 session types in Accelevents. This session creates a space on the agenda for a break in the planned event itinerary, and does not have a video component associated with it.

Call-to-Action (CTA):

  1. The call-to-action section allows Event Admins to upload a custom image and link that image to an URL. The image will be stationary on the left side navigation menu toward the bottom, within the VEH.

  2. Exhibitors can enable and rename the Call-To-Action button within their booth. When attendees click the CTA button, their information is added to the exhibitors lead list.

Carousel: A feature in the virtual event hub that will cycle through either Sponsor logos (above the Lobby Chat) or Exhibitor Logos (above the Exhibitor chat in Expo Hall) in a slideshow style play for a specified amount of time each, set by Event Admin.

Checkout Disclaimer: Text that an Event Admin can add to the registration form before an attendee purchases a ticket. Typically used for no-refund policies or photo releases. This can also be required to be agreed to prior to an attendee purchasing a ticket.

Command Center: (insert definition)

Console: A centralized webpage that is the homebase for a specific item or function. We have multiple console areas - admin, organizer, enterprise. Dashboard is another related term.

Cvent Integration: Cvent is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that specializes in meetings, events, and hospitality management. The company offers web-based software for meeting site selection, online event registration, event management, email marketing, and web surveys. Customers of Accelevents can integrate their CVent event management into the Accelevents platform. This is mainly used for 3rd party ticketing/registration.

D

Dedicated Event Support (DES): A service provided to our Professional, Enterprise, Scale and White Label customers. This service includes having a member of our CX team assigned to a customer for specific dates/times to work directly with the customer. This service is typically either for training prior to their event or support during their live event. This service is an additional cost that must be requested in advance. Learn more here.

Discount Code: A unique code created by an Event Admin that will create a price or percentage discount on a specific ticket(s).

Dolby.io: The API platform for transforming media and communications. Dolby is the platform used in our session streaming.

E

Enterprise Console: A centralized webpage that is homebase for Event Admins on the Enterprise or White Label plan. In the admin console, event admins are able to manage multiple event sites under their enterprise account. See Console for more information

Event Admin: User with permission to the admin console section of an event site, which allows them access to set up and edit their event details, ticketing, agenda, exhibitor booths and more.

Event Landing Page (LP): The Event Landing Page is a one page site where potential event participants can go to read about the event, view the date/time of the event, view the agenda, sponsors & exhibitors, and register or purchase a ticket, as well as make donations, bid on auction or raffle items. This page is customizable. This is also the page registered attendees will go to access the event by using the Enter Event button.

Event Landing Page Script: A feature found in the Admin Console > Settings > Integrations that allows event organizers to add a tracking scribe on their event landing page, item details & check out pages. A great example of a tracking script that can be added, would be a Google Tag Manager.

Event Organizer: A person or organization hosting an event or events. The Organizer Profile is a central page used to list all of the events being hosted by Organizer and is linked to the virtual event plan the event host is on. This can be promoted as a public page and can include a website, logo, description, and social media accounts.

Exhibitor Admin: 1 of 2 roles that can be assigned to a team member of an Exhibitor Booth. Users in this role have access to every setting of the Booth.

Exhibitor Booth: A space that exists in the Expo Hall designed for vendors that include options for live chat, booth description, promo video, offers, products, document uploads/links, and a live stream.

Expo Card Image: The background image for a booth in the Expo Hall. The Exhibitor Admin will upload this image according to the image dimensions: Small Booth - 256 x 256 pixels, Medium Booth - 540 x 256 pixels, Large Booth - 1112 x 256 pixels

Expo Session: 1 of 7 session types in Accelevents. This session creates a space on the agenda to encourage visiting exhibitor booths in the planned event itinerary. This session type does not have a video component associated with it.

Extended Access: By default (unless turned off), an event is available to registered attendees for 30 days after the event ends. Some Event Admins request to extend this time for an additional cost. That cost is a flat fee of $150/mo.

Favicon: Also known as a Shortcut icon, an icon associated with a URL that is variously displayed, as in a browser's address bar or next to the site name in a bookmark list.

Fund-A-Need: Fund a Need is a fundraising technique where each item is often related to a fixed outcome. It may be a form of medical treatment, the purchase of a piece of technology for a school or even an item your participants get to take home. In a Fund a Need campaign, any number of people can submit a 'bid' for a cause auction item. The price of the item does not increase with each subsequent bid.

Gamification: A feature in the virtual event hub whereby attendees can accumulate points based on actions taken in the Expo Hall to incentivize engagement. Basic gamification has predetermined points set for actions such as clicking into a booth, downloading a document, watching a video, or chatting with the Booth representative. Enhanced Gamification will allow Event Admin to set their own challenges for point accumulation. The Leaderboard lives in the Lobby.

GDPR Compliant: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). GDPR is a regulation that requires businesses to protect the personal data and privacy of EU (European Union) citizens for transactions that occur within EU member states.

GetStream: The software application used for real time chat messaging within the Accelevents virtual event platform.

Help Center: Also known as Knowledge Base. See Knowledge Base.

Hybrid Event: A hybrid event is a blend of a live physical (in-person) event with virtual online components. Accelevents can offer the virtual event platform for online components as well as ticketing/registration for the in-person event.

Intercom (IC): The communication platform we use to provide 24/7 live customer service support to our customers via chat or email at info@accelevents.com.

Interprefy: A third party interpretation service that provides interpretation services. Through the iFrame field available in sessions, event organizers can embed interactive media to provide their interpretation services

Knowledge Base: The Accelevents web-based support page housing helpful articles, tutorials, and best practices available for customers. This support page is searchable by keyword, available 24/7 for customers, and can be found here

L

Lead Retriever: 1 of 2 roles that can be assigned to a team member of an Exhibitor Booth. Users in this role do not have full access to the Exhibitor Booth settings, but is typically referred to as a ‘company rep’ and is utilized to interact with attendees during the event such as book meetings, be available for direct messages, and moderating chats.

Live Auction: A fundraising method where bidders gather in a chosen location to bid for the various items available on sale. Unlike silent auctions, live auctions typically involve announcing the highest bid by an auctioneer/MC. Bidders are given a chance to bid again until the highest bidder takes the item on sale.

Live Stream: A live transmission of an event over the internet.

Lobby Chat: The chat box located on the right hand side of the Lobby in the Virtual Event Hub. Event Admin have the option of toggling this chat box on or off.

Lobby Feed: A feature in the Virtual Event Hub Lobby where a Facebook wall style area allows text, photo, and attachments posting. Event Admin can choose to enable/disable this feature as well as allowing/disallowing attendees to also post in this area (up to 1900 characters).

Lounges: A feature in the virtual event hub similar to a Facebook group. Interactive chat, videos, photos, and live forums are included. These areas can be toggled on or off by Event Admin, are created by Event Admin on the front end, live in their own tab in the virtual event hub, are open to all attendees, and are not on the agenda.

Main Stage Session: 1 of the 7 session types in Accelevents. These sessions are presenter-forward, cannot run concurrently, are auto-recorded if using Accelevents Studio, and unlimited capacity. Typically used for opening remarks, keynote speakers, and closing remarks.

Magic Link: The Magic Link is a link that can be sent to an attendee’s email so that when they click, will redirect them to an event page and will automatically log them in. The Magic Link is valid for 24 hours and can only be used once. There is no option to send this in bulk.

Networking Session: 1 of the 7 session types in Accelevents. These sessions are located in the Networking tab in the virtual event hub. A speed-dating style video networking session with space on the event agenda. Event admin can set which ticket types can match with other ticket types, how long the match will last, and if matches can be matched more than once within the session.

Non-Profit: A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive. Nonprofits are also called not-for-profit corporations or non-profit organizations.

OBS: Open Broadcaster Software. Free software to make screencasts and/or live streaming.

Organizer Console: A centralized webpage that is homebase for Event Admins to manage their virtual event paid plan and billing related matters. In the organizer console, event admins are able to pay for their event, update billing contact info, and customize their organizer profile that is public facing. See Console for more information

Other Session: 1 of the 7 session types in Accelevents. This session creates a space on the agenda for anything other than the planned event itinerary, and does not have a video component associated with it.

P

Payment Processor: The short name for credit card processing company. We currently integrate with Stripe, Square, and Braintree. The Event admin will need their own account(s) with one of these companies to accept payment through their Accelevents site.

Penetration Test: A penetration test, colloquially known as a pen test, pentest or ethical hacking, is an authorized simulated cyberattack on a computer system, performed to evaluate the security of the system; this is not to be confused with a vulnerability assessment.

People Tab: A tab in the virtual event hub that shows (if the attendee has allowed permissions), each person along with their profile, that has checked into the virtual event hub. This allows attendees to connect with one another.

Polls: A tool used to take a survey of people's opinions. Within Accelevents virtual event sessions, event organizers and presentations are able to create custom polls for their audiences to cast their vote.

Pro Exhibitor Plan: An additional offering by Accelevents to allow Exhibitor booth streaming using Accelevents Studio instead of Zoom. This needs to be purchased separately by the Event Admin and is currently $99 per day per booth.

Q

Q&A: Session module that allows attendees to pose questions and receive verbal or typed back responses that can be public or private.

R

Raffle: One of the fundraising modules offered on the Accelevents platform. A raffle is a means of raising money by selling numbered tickets, one or some of which are subsequently drawn at random, the holder or holders of such tickets winning a prize.

Regular Session: 1 of 7 session types in Accelevents. These sessions are presenter-forward, can be scheduled concurrently, are auto-recorded if using Accelevents Studio, and unlimited capacity. (previously known as Breakout Sessions)

RTMP Feed: Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) is a protocol for streaming audio, video, and data over the Internet. This is used to pull in the feed from a broadcast production studio.

S

Session: An agenda item devoted to a particular activity within a specific time frame. We offer 7 session types in Accelevents: Mainstage, Regular, Workshop, Meet Up, Expo, Break, and Other.

Silent Auction: An auction that is similar to a traditional auction in concept, but instead of live auctioneer and bidders with paddles, participants bid online for items offered up for auction.

Soc2: An auditing procedure that ensures your service providers securely manage your data to protect the interests of your organization and the privacy of its clients. For security-conscious businesses, SOC 2 compliance is a minimal requirement when considering a SaaS provider. Accelevents is SOC 2 Type II compliant.

Speakers: Thought-leaders invited to give a presentation or provide insight at an event on a specific topic.

Sponsors: An individual or organization that pays some or all of the costs involved in staging an event in return for advertising. Sponsors for the Accelevents platform live in their own tab in the lobby as well as in a slide-show style carousel above the Lobby Chat (if enabled).

Square: 1 of the payment processing companies we integrate with to enable ticket purchases, raffle items, and silent auction purchases online with credit cards. An Event Admin will need their own Square account and will need to connect it to their event site.

Staff: Staff are 1 of 2 administrative roles within the Accelevents platform. For fundraising modules, staff are able to submit silent auction bids, submit and sell raffle tickets, collect donations, sell event tickets, and check attendees into the event. For virtual events, staff members are able to assist with chat moderation and will not have access to the admin console.

Stream Provider: The service that allows Event Admin to broadcast to an unlimited number of people for virtual events. Stream providers are the different video or live stream options we offer and are available on Main Stage and Regular session types.

Streaming Delay: (natural latency) A delay between transmission of the live-video broadcast and the viewer receiving the transmission. Natural latency occurs due to the way our streaming provider processes the information so as to eliminate buffering for the end user.

Stripe: 1 of the payment processing companies we integrate with to allow ticket purchases, raffle items, and silent auction purchases online with credit cards. An Event Admin will need their own Stripe account and will need to connect it to their event site.

Sub-Stream Provider: When choosing Accelevents Studio as the Stream Provider, we offer different Sub-Stream provider options. A Sub Stream provider is the service that our studio uses to live stream. Each sub-stream provider uses a different protocol to broadcast the studio and therefore have different attributes and uses. We have two options: TokBox (the default) and Voxeet.

Tags: Specific keywords created and attached to sessions that relate to specific topics or interests.

Text-To-Give: A fundraising method that allows donors to text their donation amount to a provided number.

Ticket Buyer: Term to describe the person who completed the purchase of a ticket. The ticket buyer may not be the same person who is attending the event.

Ticket Holder: Term to describe the person who has a valid ticket for entry to an event.

TokBox: TokBox is a Sub-Stream provider option of the Accelevents Studio. Tokbox is the default sub-stream provider for a Main Stage and Regular sessions. This is best used for uploading a video file directly into the session. Most useful for speakers that wish to show a presentation in video form, and then come on camera and mic to answer chat/ q&a questions. TokBox is also the only option for Speakers, Moderators, and Admins to be invisible to the attendees when their camera is off.

Tracks: A way to designate sessions specifically for different focuses at an event. The goal of a track is to make it easy for attendees to identify which sessions will be of the highest value for what they’re looking to learn.

Virtual Event: An online event that involves people interacting in a virtual environment on the web, rather than meeting in a physical location. Virtual events are typically multi-session online events that often feature webinars, webcasts, and virtual engagement

Virtual Event Hub (VEH): On the Accelevents platform, the Virtual Event Hub is where the virtual event takes place. The VEH is the area attendees are directed to after clicking the “Enter Event” button on an event landing page.

Virtual Event Hub Script: A feature found in the Admin Console > Settings > Integrations that allows event organizers to add a customer script on the Virtual Event Hub page. An example of custom scripts that can be added, would be a live chat box widget.

Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT): A document which evaluates how accessible a particular product is according to the Section 508 Standards. It is a self-disclosing document produced by a vendor which details each aspect of the Section 508 requirements and how the product supports each criteria

Voxeet: Voxeet is a Sub-Stream provider option of the Accelevents Studio. This is best for uploading a file (such as powerpoint) directly into the session rather than sharing your screen. The presentation when uploaded will also appear larger than in a TokBox session.

Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI): Part of W3C and develops web accessibility guidelines, technical specifications, and educational resources to help make the web accessible to people with disabilities. WAI has developed several W3C Recommendations, including WCAG, ATAG, UAAG, and WAI-ARIA.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG): Developed through the W3C process in cooperation with individuals and organizations around the world, with a goal of providing a single shared standard for web content accessibility that meets the needs of individuals, organizations, and governments internationally.

Widget: A widget is an element of a graphical user interface (GUI) that displays information or provides a specific way for a user to interact with the application. Widgets can include icons, pull-down menus, buttons, selection boxes, progress indicators, on-off checkmarks, scroll bars, windows, window edges (that let you resize the window), toggle buttons, form, and many other devices for displaying information and for inviting, accepting, and responding to user actions.

Workshop Session: 1 of 7 session types in Accelevents. These sessions are interactive, can be scheduled concurrently, are not recorded, and utilize Accelevents Studio. These sessions allow up to 16 session participants (both speakers and attendees) on camera and up to 250 via audio. There is a 250 person session capacity limit.

Zapier: A company that allows it’s end users to integrate web applications they use. Accelevents has an official published app in Zapier, to allow our customers to integrate with other platforms they use. Note: this requires our customers to have an existing Zapier account.
