By default attendees cannot enter the event if they are not fully paid for their ticket. They won't be able to enter the virtual event hub or the enter the event in the attendee app. For in-person events, when they arrive at the venue to check in, they also won't be able to check in and would get a message to approach a staff. They will need to settle their balance first before they can get access.

If you want to allow them to access the event even without settling their balance, you can turn on the toggle to Allow attendees with UNPAID tickets to check in to event

  • Go to Settings > Payment Processing

  • Enable Allow attendees with UNPAID tickets to check in to event

What Happens When They Are Not Allowed?

When this toggles is turned off, anyone who is not fully paid cannot enter the attendee app or virtual event hub. When they check in to the venue, they may get a message to approach a team member to assist them. Below are what to expect depending on the scenario.

Check In Through Kiosk

When they check in through the kiosk at the event venue, they will get an error message saying their registration has a pending balance and that they should contact the event organizer. They will not be checked in and the badge will not be printed.

There is no override for this, they must settle the balance or change the settings to allow them to check in.

Check In with Admin or Staff Assistance

When team members check in attendees who are not fully paid, they will see "Pending Balance" in the attendee record in all areas where attendees can be checked in, such as the admin console, staff portal, and admin app. They will also get an error when they try to check in the attendee (we're improving the error message since this is already admin facing).

There is no override for this, they must settle the balance or change the settings to allow them to check in.

Enter the Virtual Event Hub

When the access the magic link to log in to the virtual event hub, they will get this error message and when they click Close they will be redirected to the landing page.

When they hover of the pre-event / enter event button from the landing page, they will see the same error message.

There is no override for this, they must settle the balance or change the settings to allow them to check in.

Enter the Attendee App

When they log in to the attendee app and click the event, they will be redirected to the landing page and will see an error message at the bottom.

There is no override for this, they must settle the balance or change the settings to allow them to check in.
