iDEAL Payments via Stripe
iDEAL is a popular bank-based payment method in the Netherlands that allows customers to pay directly through their bank. You can enable iDEAL as a payment option in your Accelevents event when using Stripe as your payment processor.
⚠️ Limitations and Important Notes
The iDEAL integration works differently from traditional card payments because it’s an on-session payment method. Below are key points to understand before using it with Accelevents:
Only Euro (€) transactions are supported.
iDEAL is available primarily for customers with Dutch bank accounts.
Refunds can be done directly in Accelevents.
iDEAL payments must be captured immediately during checkout.
iDEAL does not support future payments, so this will not work if you have Pay Later / Deposit tickets, and approval tickets where credit card information is collected without paying up front.
iDEAL will work for approval tickets where credit card information is NOT collected after submitting the request. They can pay through iDEAL when they claim their ticket.
Do not enable iDEAL if you're using the ticket widget. It will only work if you're using the regular registration page.
Set Up Return URL (Handled by Accelevents)
The iDEAL payment process requires a return URL, which tells Stripe where to redirect customers after they complete their bank transaction.
This configuration is already handled by the Accelevents platform — no manual setup is needed on your part.
If you encounter an error asking for a “return_URL,” please contact Accelevents Support — it typically means your Stripe connection needs to be refreshed or re-authorized.
