The Q&A feature allows attendees and speakers in a session to post questions and answer the questions by directly answering on the live stream or by typing in the answers.

How to enable/disable Q&A inside a session:

Exhibitors also have the option to use the Q&A function, when admins turn the feature on for them from the admin console:

How the Q&A feature works:

Please note the following points when using the Q&A feature:

  • Questions can be posted and seen by anyone including attendees, speakers, and admins

  • Answers can only be posted by speakers and admins inside a session, for exhibitors booths, only exhibitor staff, and organizer admins can post answers.

  • Answers can be sent privately or publicly

  • Answers cannot be deleted after submitting

  • Dismissed questions may only be seen by speakers in a session or exhibitor staff inside the booth and admins

  • Only the person who submitted the question can delete the question

  • Questions can be created in advance through the backstage link for sessions.

Submit a Question

  • Enter the session through the virtual event hub or access the Accelevents backstage studio link for the session (for speakers)

  • Click the Q&A tab

  • Type in your question and click Submit

  • Note: You will also have the option to submit a private question to the speaker by ticking the Send private option. When doing so, this question will only be visible to the speaker and will not be visible to other attendees.

Answer a Question

  • Enter the session through the virtual event hub or access the Accelevents backstage studio link for the session (for speakers)

  • Click the Q&A tab

  • Click the Open tab to see all the unanswered questions

  • Click Type Answer to start typing your answer then click Submit

  • Click Answer Live if you want to answer the question by saying your answer on your live broadcast.

  • Note: clicking the Answer Live button will not close out that question, it will only highlight the button. We suggest still typing in your answer after the question has been answered live as a reference for your attendees who may have missed the live answer

View an Answer

  • Click the Answered tab from the Q&A feature

  • Note: If an answer is submitted, you cannot edit or delete the answer anymore

Dismiss a Question

  • Click the Open tab to view all open questions

  • Click Dismiss if you don't want to answer the question. The question will be moved to the Dismissed tab

  • If you decide to answer a dismissed question, go to the Dismissed tab and click Reopen

  • Note: The Dismissed tab may only be seen by the speakers and admins

Delete a Question

  • Click the Open tab to view all open questions

  • Click Delete to delete the question

  • Note: Only unanswered questions can be deleted and may only be deleted by the person who posted the question

Disabling the Q&A Feature in a Session

Note: Disabling the Q&A is only available for Scale and other higher plans

  • Go to Sessions | Speakers

  • Open the session

  • On session details, scroll down to Manage Session Interactivity

  • Toggle off Enable Q&A for this session

As an admin, you can also set the Q&A as Private from the admin console. This is done by enabling Send Questions in Private Only.

When this is enabled, the questions sent by attendees are automatically set to be sent privately, so that means only admins and speakers will see the question. When admins or speakers answer the question, they have the option to send it privately to the attendee that asked the question or send it publicly where everyone can see both the question and answer.

To send the answer publicly, the admin or speaker has to untick the Send Privately check box.

Download the Q&A for sessions

  • Go to Analytics in your admin console

  • Click Sessions

  • Select the session

  • Click Q&A

  • Click Download Q&A

Download the Q&A for exhibitors

  • Go to Analytics in your admin console

  • Click Exhibitors

  • Select the exhibitor

  • Click Q&A

  • Click Download Q&A
