Before the event opens, it's important to test whether your printer is working and the badge design is printing correctly. If you're using a ZD620 Printer, follow the steps below to ensure everything goes well.

Steps to Set Up Your Printer and iPad

In this example, we will be using an A6 thermal paper, where the size of the paper is 4x6, so we're selecting that template size for the badge design. It should work on single and double-sided templates.

1. Connect the Printer and iPad to the Same Network

The printer and the iPad should be connected to the same network/router. If you're using a printer with Wi-Fi, you can use that, but we recommend hard wiring for a more stable connection. Once it's connected, you will need to get your printer's IP address.

How to Check if the Printer is Connected to the Internet

Print the Network Configuration from the Printer

Push and hold Feed + Cancel for 3 seconds to retrieve a status sheet.

This will print out your printer and network configuration. You will know that it's connected if you see that it's "Wired" and it gives you an IP address. Take note of your IP address; you will need it in the next steps.

Check the Display Screen

If your printer has a display screen and you're connected via a wired network, you should see the following settings:

  • Active Print Server: Wired

  • Primary Network: Wired

  • Wired IP Address: a default IP will show - take note of this. You will need it for your iPad settings (e.g., 192.168.055.112)

  • IP Port: 6101 or 9100

Check through the Zebra Printer Setup Utility App

If your printer does not have a display screen, you can download Zebra Printer Setup Utility from the app store. We also recommend downloading this app even if you have a display screen, as it's easier to navigate through the app.

Click Discover Printers from the app to find the printer connected to a network. When it finds the printer, it will look something like the one below. It shows that the ZD620 is ready, meaning it's connected to the internet and ready to print.

To see how you are connected, click Connectivity Settings, and to check your IP address, click the icon and select Connectivity.

If it's not showing in discovered printers, there may be connection issues. Just try again and possibly hard-wire the connection.

Another way to connect the printer to the app is to click Manually Select Printer and enter the printer's IP address (get it from the printout). If you were able to secure the IP address, just enter it in the field and click search.

2. Configure the Printer

After connecting the printer, you must adjust the settings to ensure the design prints correctly. In the screen display, select the following settings:

  • Darkness: choose a darker setting (e.g., 19.0) so the text printout is legible.

  • Print Speed: choose a lower speed setting (e.g., 2.0) so the printout is clear.

  • Media Type: Auto Detect

You can also adjust this in the Zebra app:

  • Go to Print Quality > Manually Adjust > Adjust the Print Speed & Darkness

  • Go to Media Settings > Media Settings > Next > Media Type > Auto Detect

3. Configure the Admin App

After configuring the printer, log in to the Accelevents Admin App on the iPad. The check-in page badge printing feature will also work on iPhones and Android phones, but kiosk badge printing will only be available on iPads. Please ensure you install the latest app version to see the latest updates.

For iPad

  • Download the Accelevents Admin App - IOS or Google Play

  • Log in to the Admin App

  • Click the 3-line menu at the upper-left corner

  • Go to Settings

  • Select Printing

  • Turn on the toggle for Enable Printing

  • For the Network Address field, type in your printer's IP address. (e.g., 192.168.000.033)

  • For the Port Number: 6101 or 9100

  • Click Connect Printer

  • You should get a notification alert Connected and a Connected Printer status below the enable printing toggle.

  • If it's giving you a spinning wheel for a long time, just try again, disable the toggle, enable it, and then connect again.

For iPhone or Android

  • Log in to the Admin App

  • Click your profile at the upper-left corner

  • Select Printer Setup

  • Turn on the toggle for Enable Printing

  • For the Network Address field, type in your printer's IP address. (e.g., 192.168.000.033)

  • For the Port Number: 6101 or 9100

  • Click Connect Printer

  • You should get a notification alert Connected and a Connected Printer status below the enable printing toggle.

  • If it's giving you a spinning wheel for a long time, just try again, disable the toggle, enable it, and then connect again.

Once you have everything, you can print badges through the check-in page and kiosk.

Why is my double-sided design skipping a page?

If you're printing a double-sided design and it's not printing accordingly, like below where it skips pages...

You may need to change your design to 1 page that includes both front and back, like below.

This is a temporary workaround. It doesn't happen to all printers or designs, but we're improving the feature to print out correctly without a workaround.
