Important Note:

Our native integration with Zoom is currently not working as it should. We are working closely with them to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Stay tuned for more updates or you can reach out to our support team.

When using Zoom with Accelevents, you have different options for streaming from Zoom. In this article, we'll discuss broadcasting from Zoom through RTMP streaming. This allows you to start the broadcast via Zoom, and attendees will be watching from Accelevents and may only use the features available in Accelevents. Streaming through RTMP limits attendees from using Zoom features while in the session.

What is RTMP?

RTMP, or Real Time Messaging Protocol, is a type of video encoding that makes video streaming possible.

RTMP transmits video files from an encoder to an online hosting platform with minimal buffering, which processes your data for you.

The encoder is like your backstage; an example is Zoom. The online hosting platform is the stage where your audience will see the broadcast. In this case, your online hosting platform is Accelevents.

How Does RTMP Work?

RTMP works with a simple protocol request from the client to the encoder. Once a connection is established, the stream starts!

In simple terms, a code or link from an online hosting platform like Accelevents must be inserted into the encoder's settings to make the two applications work together!

Note: The RTMP feature is only available for paid Accelevents and Zoom plans.

Live Streaming Through RTMP using Zoom

Set up your Session:

  • Go to Agenda & Speakers

  • Create a Session

  • Click the Broadcasting tab

  • Select Accelevents RTMP as your stream provider

  • Copy the Stream Details

Notes:

  • If you change the stream provider and put it back to RTMP, it will generate a new streaming key.

  • If you plan to include captions, enable either of the captioning toggles before the session starts. You will be unable to edit this once it has started broadcasting.

On your Zoom Account:

After creating your meeting in Zoom, start the meeting, as the RTMP setting is only available in the meeting itself, not in the creation process.

  • Start the meeting

  • Click More

  • Select Live Broadcasting > Live on Custom Live Streaming Device

  • On the new page that opens, paste the Streaming URL, Streaming key, and Live streaming page URL you copied from your Accelevents session.

  • Click Go Live!

Once everything is done, you can view your Zoom live stream in the virtual event hub. You can also click the Preview button from the admin console to see the live stream.

Notes:

  • When testing your session, ensure that the event time and date are for now so you can view the live stream.

  • The broadcast duration limit for an RTMP stream is up to 12 hours.

  • Our RTMP streaming can process up to 1080p and 5000 kbps bitrate
