The magic link email is an email you can send attendees if they need help logging in to the event. All they need to do is click the link from the email, then it will ask them to create a password if they still need to, but if they have, they will automatically be logged in. This email is also sent to those who register an hour before your event opens.
We require attendees to click from their inbox to verify that the person logging in is the person who owns that email address.
How Does it Work?
The magic link works differently depending on whether they have created a password or not.
Attendee With a Password
When an attendee with a password clicks the magic link, they will automatically be logged in to the event. It won't require the to enter the password anymore.
Attendee Without a Password
When an attendee without a password clicks the magic link, the attendee will be asked to create a password. However, if they want to skip creating a password, clicking the X to close the pop-up will automatically log them in. All they need to do next is to click the Enter Event button from the event landing page.
Important Notes:
We are improving this feature to remove the step to enter a password. Instead, when they click it, it should immediately direct them to the virtual event hub. Please stay tuned for updates!
The Join Event button in the order confirmation email also allows them to log in to the event without a password. At this time, it might be a better option to resend the order confirmation email instead of the Magic Link email.
The link will only be "magic" the first time they click it.
Send a Magic Link to an Attendee
Go to Attendees > Orders in your admin console
Search for the attendee
Click the 3-dot menu under the Actions tab (not the one on top)
Click Send Magic Link
The email would look something like this:
Send the Magic Link to All Attendees
If you want to send the magic link to all attendees, click the Send Magic Links to all attendees button on the upper right of the Orders tab.
What happens when the attendee clicks the magic link?
If the event is already open, they will automatically be logged in and redirected to the virtual event hub.
If the event is not yet open, they will automatically be logged in and redirected to the event landing page.
You'll know that the attendee is logged in if their name and profile photo (if they had added any) appear on the upper right corner of the screen.
Can attendees get a magic link without admins sending them?
Yes, attendees can also send this email to them if they are trying to enter the event through the event landing page's Enter Event button while logged out and have never created a password.
The email will look something like this:
Frequently Asked Questions

There's no limit to the number of times you can send the magic link.
Can I edit the email that they receive for the magic link?
No.
What happens if they click the link after the event?
The attendee will be redirected to the event landing page, but it will not automatically log them in.
What happens if they click the magic link again?
The attendee will be redirected to the event landing page, but it will not automatically log them in.
What happens if they forward their magic link to someone else?
If it's the first time the link is clicked, the other person will be automatically logged in under the profile of the link's owner.
We do not advise forwarding the link as this may cause issues when logging in as the magic link is attendee specific.
Can I send the magic link post-event?
Yes, you can, but if the post-event access is over, attendees can only access the event landing page.
