Add a Limit to How Many Sessions They Can Join

When setting up your event, you may want to limit how many sessions attendees can join—especially if you have overlapping schedules or limited seats or if you have ticket tiers that will allow them to join more sessions when they buy higher priced tickets. With the Session Registration Limit feature, you can control how many sessions a ticket holder is allowed to register / save a seat. You can also limit their seat reservation based on session categories through tags and tracks. This helps manage attendance and ensures a smooth experience for both organizers and participants. In this article, we’ll walk you through how to set these restrictions based on ticket type.

Before proceeding, make sure you already have your ticket types, sessions, tags and tracks create.

Once you have them in place, you can start adding ticket restrictions.

Add a Session Registration Limit

To limit the number of sessions attendees can join, you'll need to indicate the maximum number of session they can join in the ticket settings.

  • Open your ticket type for editing.

  • Go to Advanced Settings

  • Scroll down to Session Registration Limit section

  • Enter the number in the Number of Sessions allowed to register field

Attendees with that ticket can only save a seat or join sessions up to the number you indicated. If they have reached the maximum and try to save a seat or join another session, they will get an error message. If they've reached the maximum and un-register themselves from a session, then they can register for another session. If they have already joined the live session, that session is counted, and they can no longer unregister.

Add a Session Registration Limit Based on Tags and Tracks

Aside from adding a maximum number of sessions they can join, you can add another layer to the limitation through tags and tracks.

For example, the ticket type is allowed to join 3 sessions only, but you want to ensure that they join 1 session per day of the event, instead of placing their allotment all on day 1. To ensure that they register for 1 session a day only, you can add session tags or tracks (e.g. Day 1, Day 2, Day 3), then in ticket settings, indicate how many sessions they can register for with the specific tag or track.

In the same Session Registration Limit select Limit session registration by tracks or tags. The tags and tracks will appear below wherein you can indicate the limit for each tag or track.
