Event Ticketing & Registration

Attendees will need a ticket to enter your event. To get one, they need to register through your event page. Once they do, they should receive the ticket and confirmation through email.

In this article, you'll learn how to create ticket types, customize ticket restrictions, connect your payment processor, and test if the registration works!

Create Tickets

  • Go to Registration > Set Up Tickets

  • Click Create Ticket

  • The Create Ticket menu will slide in from the right, where you can customize your ticket type.

Ticket Customization

The right side menu is where you can customize the name of the ticket, quantity, price, sale date, etc.

Basic Ticket Settings

  • Ticket Type - select whether the ticket is Paid or Free.

  • Name - add a name for your ticket

  • Quantity - number of tickets you want to sell

  • Price - set the selling price of the ticket

  • Approval Required - enable if you would like to review those who select this ticket type before allowing them to register.

  • Fees - select whether to pass the fees to buyers or absorb them.

  • Ticket Format - this feature only appears if you select HYBRID as your event type. This allows you to restrict attendees on what they can access in the event.

  • Sales Dates - set when the ticket will be available to purchase and when it will end

  • Ticket Description - This allows you to add a description on the ticket that would appear in the PDF file when someone is trying to purchase a ticket from your event page. This can also appear on the registration page.

Advanced Settings

Allow attendees to Pay Later

When this feature is enabled, attendees can register for the event without settling payment at the time of registration or they can pay only the deposit.

Note: this will only show for paid ticket types, and if the Pay Later feature is enabled.

Assigned Seating

To use this feature, you also need to design your seeing chart in the Venue Designer. Attendees can pick a seat during registration when correctly set up.

Note: this will only show for in-person or hybrid ticket types

Can Create & Accept Meetings

When enabled, attendees can set up meetings with other attendees.

By default, all participants can arrange meetings and define their availability, you can also customize other meeting settings in Engage > Meetings > Configuration.

Ticket Badge

If you have an in-person event, you can create badge designs and assign which design will be printed for each ticket type.

Order Confirmation

You can customize the confirmation email attendees receive and the confirmation page they see after they register depending on the ticket they buy.

You can customize them in Registration > Order Confirmation

Ticket Restrictions

When you select any of the options below, attendees with this ticket type will NOT be able to join sessions with those tracks or tags, enter lounges or booths, and send chat messages.

  • Track Restrictions - attendees with this ticket type cannot join sessions with the indicated tracks.

  • Tag Restrictions - attendees with this ticket type cannot join sessions with the indicated tags.

  • Other Restrictions - when an area is selected, attendees with this ticket type will not have access to it.

    • Lounge

    • Booth

    • Chat

More Ticket Quantity Settings

Tickets allowed per order

Set the maximum number of tickets that can be bought per transaction.

Bundle type

Select whether you want to sell individual or bundle/group tickets.

Number of Sessions allowed to register

This option allows you to restrict attendees on how many sessions they can attend by entering a maximum number that they can register for.

Notes:

  • This applies to hybrid and virtual events.

  • There is also a setting in the session, that allows you to select which ticket type can access the session

PDF attachments in the Order Confirmation Email

This allows you to add a PDF file for the ticket and invoice attached to the confirmation email.

For in-person events, we recommend you include this since some folks will want to print something to show at the venue.

Custom Invoice Text

You can add a custom message that shows on the invoice

Note: this will only show if an invoice is included as an attachment to the Order Confirmation Email

Ticket Visibility

Allows you to hide/show the ticket type from your event page.

If you need a hidden ticket type to be accessed by registrants, you can create an access code in Registration > Discount & Access Codes and give it to them.

Ticket Transfer

If you're allowing attendees to edit their registration information, it will also allow them to transfer the ticket ownership to another attendee. Check this box if you do not want them to transfer ticket ownership.

As an event admin, you can still transfer ticket ownership in the Orders tab in the admin console.

Other Ticketing Options

At the bottom of the Setup Tickets Page, you'll see more options:

  • Show the number of remaining tickets and Add-ons - this shows below the ticket quantity selection dropdown

  • Show the Registration Button - when turned off, it hides the registration button and link to redirect to the first step of the registration process. It also disables to option to buy tickets anywhere attendee facing side (e.g. limited display link, kiosk). When hidden, tickets can only be bought through the admin console and staff portal.

  • Show ticket prices above the Registration Button - this shows the price range of the available tickets

  • Limit Event Capacity - Set the maximum number of tickets that can be sold for the event. Registrations will be paused automatically once this threshold is reached.

Connect Your Payment Processor

If you're selling paid tickets, you must connect to a payment processor (Stripe or Square) to receive credit card payments. Go to Settings > Payment Processing

Test the Registration

To see what tickets would look like and understand the registration process, go to your event landing page and click the Register / Buy Tickets button. Try choosing a (free) ticket to understand the whole registration process.
